凰红三万火，荆紫五千尘。
百日羞锥序，纷缤奁美人。
羊蹄圆四指，佛槿逐芳新。
轻答高声唤，重阳问早春。

凰红三万火    The phoenix blooms doth blaze in countless fires
荆紫五千尘    Bougainvillea strews soft purple gyres
百日羞锥序    The crape-myrtle unfurls her tapered spire
纷缤奁美人    Fair blossoms rise as maids from caskets fin
羊蹄圆四指    Bauhinia’s leaves bear four round-tipped desires
佛槿逐芳新    Rose-of-China breathes fresh bloom where sun doth shine
轻答高声唤   To my loud call a gentle voice replies
重阳问早春   On Ninth Double, he seeks the spring’s soft sign
                   Though autumn’s garb be tinged with hoary grey
                   His keen clear eye each winding path doth scan
                   Eight forks he marks, and all his signs hold sway
                   Where old hound and the slide his joys began
                   Age learns anew what infant wit can see:
                   Spring dwells in hearts of pure simplicity.
